Guy graduated from Brighton Polytechnic in 1983 with first class honours in 3D design. He now lives and works in Brighton and has an occasional home on the Norfolk coast.
From these bases he observes a wide variety of birdlife and behaviour in their natural habitat. His particular interest is their expressions, the attitudes they strike and the seemingly infinite variations between different types of birds. He then puts his drawings away and models directly in clay. Some of Guy’s work relates closely to the original birds, others are a fusion of several birds, creating a new species!
He finishes each piece using slips, oxides and glazes that evoke the soft, subtle qualities of plumage and the coastal rocks and chalk from his local landscape.
